This is truly a sad event to see this great football pool go away. I don't think I'll be able to find one that equals this.What's worse, I actually won one of those coveted squeezy-ball things last year. Unbeknownst to me, my son threw it in the yard and I ran over it with my lawnmower. Don, Since you are the president of Drake Consulting, that means that you could afford to hire someone to update the website instead of shutting it down. All that shows us (the players) is that you aren't very good at deligating people. Don, this is a great site and a great way to get people to know who you are, use it to your advantage, many people are disappointed. Enjoyed very much participating in the pool last year,a unique challenge to be in a pool that size and watch as with each loss and win how much the difference in the standings it made, a truly fun time. A question though,any suggestions on where a person could find a similar FREE pool to participate in. I am really sorry to see you are discontinuing your football pool. I especially liked it because of its simplicity to operate and its comparison lists. Ours was a family competition which even included youngsters, like under 10, who had as much fun beating us adults as we did with each other. Checked out Poolhost.com, it looks good. Taking the whole team "Sibling Rivalry" over to Poolhost. The only feature missing is a global ranking of all the teams. If you join ask for this feature to be added (they said they would consider it). Sibling Rivalry ranked 17th at the end of last year. Let's see how you stack up.

Well, I ended up going with poolhost. Only time will tell how it will work out. Anyway, I was part of a great trash talking group here know only as "INDIANA" I have managed to contact a few of my old roomies and they should soon be joining me at poolhost. The pool was great and I hope it comes back. You need to get people to purchase a franchise and charge them say $20.00 to play and limit it to around 100 people. then give out weekely money and final money as well as prises like you did on your site.

I stopped by to find your site this year is down. Really Bummed. It was a great time last year but if I were doing it I would change the point system so its easier for the average user to understand. Something strictly points driven by game and less confusing. Maybe allow betting money (fake money) on games. Users like that. Looking for greater things next year. Don, I am currently registered at poolhost.com, and it is nothing like what you had going for us...8(. Their server sucks, can't get in most of the time, and once in, can't get where I want to go. It wouldn't accept my picks on one pool, and I tried 3X; so I gave up. Plus, and THIS got to me the most, I got spammed by a pool member within the first week! I just want you to know I miss your football pool a lot (I am probably going to vacate poolhost.com and not do pools this year). Hope you and your family are having a good summer and year. I, like most of the comments posted here, realize that running this site is time consuming and expensive, not to mention the prizes you have sent(although I didn't receive one). All that most unselfish people would ask from you is your time while we do the financial part...

I'd pay to see it back. Poolhost was okay. But this was tons better. Watching football just isn't the same especially after not having Drake here running things. Hope I'll see it back in a month or so. Now that I've got my own place and things are great again.

Drake, I don't know you but I want to express my profound appreciation for you years of making this site the only place that I'd consider setting up my pool. I completely understand the difficulties involved in trying to manage a popular free site on the web and still have an a personal life. Easy? It ain't.

That said, if the issue is money I wish you'd just said something. It SLAYS ME - the number of Internet sites that shut themselves down because of no cash - even though they never asked for cash! I'd have GLADLY PAID to PLAY - no question.
