What is your TiVo suggesting?

Good article about collaborative filtering - though they never mention it directly - over on the Wall Street Journal and how it sometimes misses the mark: If TiVo Thinks You Are Gay,Here's How to Set It Straight. Not that there is anything wrong with it.I own UltimateTV, which is Microsoft's version of TiVo. Fortunately for me it doesn't offer suggestions based on the programs I record. Between my daughter's Disney shows, my wife's HGTV shows and my reality-TV addiction (I'm getting better, thanks for your concern) I'm not sure what it would recommend. Amazon.com does a good job of offering suggestions in my opinion, it has figured out I like computer books, gadgets, and does a pretty good job on making music suggestions. I think it helps that I've been buying from them since 1997.

Thriller

Michael Jackson took the stand last week in a $21 million lawsuit claiming he backed out on concerts. The pictures of him on the stand are downright scary. But it wasn't always like that, it took years for him to destroy his face with surgery. Let's take A Photographic History of Michael Jackson's Face

8march2003 update

This is an update from my previous posting regarding this strange site.As you're probably aware, the site is now showing 404 - Page not found, and it looks like all content has been removed. The site was updated yesterday, November 7th, with a message at the bottom of the page. I was able to see it this morning, but now I cannot. Unfortunately, I couldn't retrieve the contents of the page from my browser cache, it was already replaced by the error page.

The message basically said thanks for the encouraging emails, etc. It also said that for those who take things too seriously to re-read the first paragraph of the October 23rd posting to put you at ease. The following sentence was hilighted in blue text: There are those who believe it is a hoax - but perhaps that is part of the plan - just read between the lines.

A copy of the page that shows the October 23rd message is available from Google's cache. The posting also thanked "Amy's I" and mentioned that she and the posters to her site are on the right track. Amy's I is an on-line column for The Daily Mirror, she references the 8march2003 site here.I'm not sure what happened to the 8march2003 site, but all content has been removed.

Maybe it was generating too much traffic and costing too much. Or maybe the "government" tracked this guy down....Regarding the speculation of George Gintilas, his site now says he has nothing to do with the "hoax site".

Anyone have the complete paragraph from the site that was updated November 7th?

Journeys with George

Television producer Alexandra Pelosi, daughter of Democratic House minority whip Nancy Pelosi, covered George Bush's presidential election campaign for NBC and also documented her interactions with the then Governor and the press corps. The documentary, titled "Journeys with George" shows the president like you've never seen him before. Yes, the President is a goofy guy trying to be a matchmaker for Alexandra as well a peacemaker for the partyers on the press plane. This is a must see movie for Bush lovers and haters alike. It really shows how the President charmed the pants of off everyone around him, even the press watching his every move. The movie is hilarious, showing Bush in "normal" situations relaxing on the plane between stump speeches.HBO is showing the movie as part of it's America Undercover series, here's the upcoming schedule.
