Michael Cunningham was born tonight at 8:40pm coming in at 6 pounds 15 ounces. Mother and baby are doing fine.
I'm an Uncle again, I can't wait to corrupt yet another nephew!
The best third basemen ever to play for the Chicago Cubs is Ron Santo. During his career he was a nine-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner.
Santo has endured many ups and downs lately. One of the major recent disappointments (aside from the bladder tumors, fighting diabetes and having both legs amputated at the knee) has been is inability to get into the Hall of Fame, where he respectfully deserves to be.
Ron has been broadcasting Cubs baseball on WGN radio for the last 14 years. He's eligible for the broadcasters hall of fame, which is now accepting nominations from fans:
For the first time, fans have the opportunity to participate in the Ford C. Frick Award voting process. Select up to three candidates from the ballot below. The top three vote-getters will be placed on the final ballot for consideration for the 2004 Ford C. Frick Award, presented annually to a broadcaster for major contributions to the game of baseball.
Ron is eligible, let's vote early and often so he gets on the ballot. Voting ends on December 1, 2003.
I've enjoyed listening to both Pat Hughes and Ron during last years roller coaster season. In fact, vote for them both!
What the Frick, get Santo in!
